I recently travelled to Toronto to attend a network meeting hosted by People for Education. Parents and community organization members in their Ontario network gathered in person, as well as through an online meeting space, to engage in discussions about education and also to learn about communication strategies to support on-going dialogue, advocacy, and sharing of information online.
It was my pleasure that day to co-present with Tracy Bachellier (@bachtrac) about the potential of Twitter and to walk participants through some steps to help get started using Twitter to create Personal Learning Networks. We had a great time! It was also great to have Jacqui Strachan’s (@jacquistrachan) support with coordinating the participation and questions from those attending online from various regions in Ontario! The networking has continued! Jacqui has also created a place for more discussion here
Below are links to our presentations – slides, audio and photos. Special thanks to Gay Stephenson (@gaystephenson) for pulling together this information to share further! What fun! I hope this will help give others some ideas to help parents and community members engage in conversations and be informed about education in their districts.
